Michael Aushenker at the Latino Comics Expo

Michael Aushenker, writer and cartoonist, will be attending the inaugural LATINO COMICS EXPO on May 7 & 8 at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco.

He's the creator of the cult classic comic book series, EL GATO, CRIME MANGLER, as well as a long line of comics under his CARTOON FLOPHOUSE banner, including the bellhop comic series GREENBLATT THE GREAT and the recently released THOSE UNSTOPPABLE ROGUES PARTY HARD Vol 1.

Drawing it's  influences from Mexican masked wrestlers, 1930s-2002 Los Angeles, superhero comics and Felix the Cat, Michael's EL GATO, CRIME MANGLER series delivers it's message of fun, outrageous adventure with a sense of absurdity that borders on surrealism.

Michael's writing also includes a long career in journalism, having written for a host of newspapers including the JEWISH JOURNAL to THE MALIBU TIMES. He's a regular contributor to TwoMorrow's magazine of 70s and 80s comic book culture, BACK ISSUE, as well as writing a column for the fanzine DITKOMANIA, a publication edited by Rob Imes that spotlights the work of comic book legend, Steve Ditko.

Among Michael's recent comic book works is a run of GUMBY'S GANG, published by Wildcard Ink. His upcoming projects include issues of THE SIMPSONS and SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS comic books, as well as the long-awaited trade paperback collection of his classic EL GATO, CRIME MANGLER.
